Stop talking football, for fuck sake.

There are signs we’re setting up to keep the ball and play more up the pitch. No, it ain’t pretty but three at the back is no longer a death sentence as long as Soucek isn’t used as a box-to-box midfielder. Downes and Soucek might even work as long as no one is played out of position - hope Paqueta is available though.

If we go down Stewie, I reckon we'll go down as the hardest to watch team we've ever had relegated. At least with Avram & Roeder it was entertaining at times.

And, as some on here still don't seem to grasp, we've spent 200 MILLION smackeroonies to have this served up. Everyone else was on a shoestring.

Is there a more boring sporting event than a West Ham United game that anyone can think of?

I'd rather watch Indoor BOWLS than watch us to be honest. It was better under Allardyce

Scorchio whilst 4 teams have conceded fewer goals than us, only 1 (Southampton), has fewer clean sheets.

Although we don't concede 2 goals very often, the lack of clean sheets (as well as a misfiring forward line), is hampering us, badly.

You would hope so, seeing as we're the most defensive team in the league.

Chelsea were there for the taking in the 2nd half, and we should have tried to win the game. We have 20 points in 22 games for fuck sake, we can't be passing up any opportunity to win a game.

Our manager would love you, though. He's happy to forfeit points an all

To be fair to us, only four teams have conceded less goals than us in the league this season, and three of those are in the top four. The other ironically is Chelsea.

Given how much pressure we always put ourselves under, the defence has done a very good job thus far (perhaps it's easier to do so when it consists of seven men rather than four or five like everyone else(!))

Our atrocious attempts at going forward and attacking is what's holding us back. Again only four teams have scored less. I'm sure Moyes would argue that being solid at the back is the most important thing, but last I checked to get three points you have to actually outscore the opponent rather than just keep a clean sheet.

Its a good point basis on the first 20 mins and the fact they have a side containing some great players. Yes we need to win games but this isnt one you'd shoemark in for 3 points like you would Notts Forest in a few weeks.

Take the point, 3 unbeaten and move on

To be honest he was anonymous when we played Lyon at our place last season and didn't play at all in the return leg. Makes you wonder (still) who is recommending/buying these players?

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Chelsea - Official Match Thread
As for the game. Well, the only positive for me was the point. Again, we were outplayed for large parts of the match and really looked to be playing a type of rope-a-dope defensive game where we soak up pressure and try and hit on the break. Except, we just don't have the players to do it as we attack so slowly. We are like a 40 year old George Forman.

Rice again outstanding and really the only player that holds things together and players to a high standard. The others huff and puff with little outcome.

Chelsea are in transition and look likely to click in two or three games and when they do they will challenge. We're still just waiting for a decent performance. Moyes can be as happy as he likes with a point but we've not turned a corner and still look as bland and ordinary going forward as we have done all season.

Defence looks ok though. And glad to see Emerson playing better.

I have to agree.

I wasn't sure if Paqueta was that injured or if he just didn't fancy it. You have to have players that are up for the fight and want to perform in the big games. It seemed to be me he did all he could to avoid the fall out if we got tonked.

May be harsh on him and may turn out to be a bad injury but I very much doubt it.

I'm not avidly seeking to knock the guy but I have said before a few times, all the people telling me how good he is, well, I'm waiting to see it. He's got a nice touch and looks decent but his actual tangible impact on games is very low. His key passes and goals are woeful for a player of that price. Two goals in 20 games. Pathetic.

Will the real Paqueta please stand up.

..this whole season feels like most matches... avidly looking at the watch/calender and working out how much more of this shite ive got to endure before i can have a beer

We are slowly becoming ok, no more than that - squad is still unbalanced/paper thin fuck know what theyve thought they were buying

rice, even with a virus, held us together in just about every aspect and part of the park -

we need three or four wins on the trot- cant see that happening tho

"Paqueta just looks dogshit doesnt he lets be honest, loses the ball and bottles 50/50s then limps off."

Completely agree. We improved markedly when Soucek came on for the fraud.

I doubt the fraud was even that injured. He probably bottled it after a feisty early challenge and cried of. He probably went home before half time.

This melt is not the type of player you want in the midst of a relegation battle. The samba dancing, preening, show pony, ONE goal from open play in half a season wanker.

I really can't buy into this 'it's a good point' bollocks.

We have 20 points from 22 games, 2 points above the relegation zone, teams around us all have new managers, and we were playing at home against a team in 10th.

We need to win games. If we don't, we are getting fucking relegated.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Chelsea - Official Match Thread
Harsh on Paqueta that, he did brilliantly to get the ball out of danger just before he was fouled

He lost two 50-50's off the back of that because his shoulder/collar bone was obviously fucked and then had to come off

Rossal 12:51 Mon Feb 13
Re: ⚽ West Ham v Chelsea - Official Match Thread
My two pennies...

A good point but disappointing thing is not sure we deserved and felt Cheslea were there for the win.

They are 10th in the league for a reason, and we gave them far too much respect in the opening 20 mins. Lucky not to be 3-0 down. We don't know how to play this formation. We play 5 at the back, 2 sitting midfielders and wingers. Its an absolute mess when we have the ball. Antonio is so isolated and we have 0 penetration through the middle of the pitch.

Paqueta just looks dogshit doesnt he lets be honest, loses the ball and bottles 50/50s then limps off. Soucek over Downes was again fucking baffling. What does Moyes see or rather not see in Downes when picking Soucek all the time. Downes only gets MOTM every chance he gets!

2nd half we looked alright, Antonio was doing well, got their CB booked then gets dragged off straight after?! strange.

As said below its another point on the board but it certainly aint pretty to watch.

Finally how can Chelsea spend that much and still look so shit, that Boely bloke hasnt got a clue they are going to be fucked when FFP comes calling

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Chelsea - Official Match Thread
It was an old Gordon Strachan quote "we don't have the quality so we need to work harder....." That pretty much sums up West Ham with a few exceptions. When we dont work hard, we get done. When we hassle and press we create opportunities.

Mex Martillo 9:44 Mon Feb 13
Re: ⚽ West Ham v Chelsea - Official Match Thread
For Moyes is trying to be more fluid. Going forward we do get 3-4-3 or even 3-3-4 with a wing back joining the attack. Trouble is we just don't do well keeping the ball going forward so we spent most of the Chelsea game as 5-4-1 or even 5-5-0, which makes for pretty sad viewing. It's players like Benrahma and Bowen that are failing us going forward and we just don't have better than them. We need the coach to get them playing better or in a different way that works and it just does not happen does it?
